Software built for removals, not bent into shape

MoverBook exists because removal firms have been running their businesses on tools that were never meant for them — a general-purpose CRM, a stack of spreadsheets, a notebook and a WhatsApp group. There is a great deal of software for estate agents, for trades, for hauliers. There is remarkably little built for the firm that actually turns up with the van.

Where it started

A friend of mine runs a removals firm. He was spending his evenings on admin that should have taken minutes: retyping the same job details into three places, putting quotes together in a word processor, chasing invoices he had lost track of. What he wanted was not complicated. He wanted the paperwork to take less of his life, he wanted his quotes and invoices to look like they came from a serious business, and he wanted it to cost an amount a small firm could actually justify.

When I looked at what was available, the honest answer was that the good options were built for much larger operators and priced accordingly, and the affordable options were generic tools that knew nothing about a removals job — no inventory, no survey, no crew, no van, no second address. So I built the thing he was asking for, and then kept building it.

What I am trying to do with it

The ambition is simple: make the boring half of a removals business take a fraction of the time, so the people running these firms can get on with the work they are actually good at. A quote that takes ten minutes instead of an evening. An invoice that chases itself. A job that only has to be typed in once.

It is also meant to be worth having for a two-van firm, not only a twenty-van one. Small operators are the ones most often priced out of decent software and the ones with the least time to spare — which is precisely the wrong way round.

Priced in the open

The price is on the site, not behind a sales call. £75 a month including your first van, then £30 for each extra van, excluding VAT. You pay for the vans you run.

Your data stays yours

You are the controller of your customers' details and we are the processor. You set the retention windows. Nothing about the arrangement is designed to make leaving difficult.

We do not touch your money

Card payments go through your own SumUp account and settle directly to you. MoverBook never sits between you and your customer's payment.

Built with movers, not at them

I write the software; the people who do the job tell me where it is wrong. Features get built because a firm needed them on a real move, not because they filled a gap on a comparison table.

What MoverBook is not

It seems fairer to say this up front than to let you find out a fortnight in.

  • It is not an accounting package. It produces invoices and a financial record; it does not do your books or file your VAT return.
  • It is not a route optimiser or a telematics system. It knows about your vans and your jobs, not where the vehicle is right now.
  • It is not built for international or container shipping. The job it understands is a domestic move between two addresses.
  • It is not an established brand with a decade of customers behind it. It is a young product, and I would rather you knew that than discovered it.

Who is behind it

My name is Michael Lowe. I am a software developer based in the Isle of Man, and I built and run MoverBook. I am not a remover — I have never carried a wardrobe down a staircase for a living — and the product only works because people who do that for a living keep telling me what I have got wrong.

MoverBook is operated by GlobalFormBook Limited, a company registered in the Isle of Man (company number 138516C). If you want to ask something, argue with a decision, or tell me the software is wrong about how your firm works, the address below reaches me directly.
